Thank you for thinking about entering the Drumlanrig Challenge.

It is a condition of entry that you read and take note of the under noted conditions.

For those who enter quickly enough to secure a place, we are unable to refund your donation should you withdraw for any reason as it is a no obligation donation to Tearfund, not an entry fee.

The undernoted Entry Terms and Conditions are a requirement of the event insurance:-

Helmets must be worn by all participants in this event. You will not be able to participate in the event without a helmet. Any rider not wearing a helmet will not be covered by the event insurance and will be disqualified from the event. The rider must accept this as a condition of entry.

The event third party liability insurance covers only the organising team and the event volunteers, individual riders are advised to arrange their only cover for third party liability and or personal accident insurance to meet their needs.

All participants under the age of eighteen shall have had a consent form completed by their parent/guardian. A parent or guardian must accompany riders under the age of sixteen.

All cyclists must adhere to and obey the Highway Code and laws of Scotland. All riders in a group must ride in an orderly manner in accordance with the law relating to road travel, not more than two abreast, and extend all reasonable courtesy to other road users.

Individual support cars are strictly forbidden; any participants seen to use one will be taken out of the event and disqualified.

Cyclosportives are designed as events for serious cyclists who have the strength, endurance and stamina to successfully complete the challenge. Please ensure you have done the right level of training to go for your standard and/or chosen distance.

It is advised that all riders must carry a form of identification showing their name, address and contact details of person to be advised in the eventuality of an accident. It is also advised that all participants carry enough food, drink, money, mobile phone, spare inner tubes and a working pump, as well as extra clothing to complete the ride being undertaken, taking into account the route and possible adverse weather conditions.

The use of triathlon handlebars is discouraged in such events. However, where riders do have them fitted they are not to be used when riding in a group.

Cycling is a very popular activity, in which the contact with nature is fundamental. We firmly ask you not to throw anything on the roads (paper, wrap, bottles....): the natural environment must be preserved and the longevity of the Drumlanrig Challenge  depends on this. Trash bags will be available for you at controls and stations where you can dispose of your empty bottles, wrappers etc. Give the environment the respect it deserves.

Below are some additional conditions for this event:-

    • There will be marshals (wearing fluorescent vests) located at certain points on the route. All volunteers and staff involved in the event will be clearly identifiable. The marshals do not have the authority to stop motorists; they are there for your safety and other road users. It is the responsibility of each participant to take the correct course.

    • You may not use your mobile phone while riding. You must stop at the side of the road if you need to make or receive a call.
    • Rider's number, issued at registration, must be displayed on the front of the bike for identification.

    • Organisers will endeavour to provide fluid and some form of food at designated "feed zones" however we cannot guarantee supplies will be available at all times and urge riders to be mindful of the needs of those following behind.

    • You are not required to complete the course within the allocated time to be classified as a finisher. Any rider who does not reach the refreshment station and check point at Drumlanrig before the event closes for the day will simply have to prove they did complete the course.
    • A Broom Wagon will follow the event. All cyclists overtaken by this vehicle, and who are unlikely to finish before the close of the day will be given the option to either get in the van, or to go on outwith the support which the event can offer, and at their own risk..
